Backlog in registration “frustrating new firms”
Category: GeneralThe backlog in company registrations at the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission has reached a staggering 13000,
despite promises that this bottleneck in SA’s economy would be unblocked. Non performance by the commission – which replaced the mal functioning Companies and Intellectual Property Registration Office – is a severe constraint on economic activity and a source of rising frustration for business. The deterioration was partly due to the high number of new applications (53000) received between September and December and to a slowdown in the commission’s work progress.
